Regional Collaboration in Emergency Preparedness
Emergencies and disasters can strike at any time. AOBA wants your properties to be at the forefront of readiness no matter what may come their way, so our Emergency Preparedness Committee will host an October 10 forum about inter-jurisdictional preparedness.
Welcome: Matt Smith, Director of Security, JBG Smith, Chair, AOBA Emergency Preparedness Committee
Introduction of panelists: LaNile Dalcour, Security Director, Brookfield Properties
Moderator: Nicola Whiteman, Senior Vice President of Government Affairs, AOBA
Emergency preparedness creates a framework for property managers to reduce vulnerabilities, threats, and hazards to cope with disasters facing a multitude of tenants. In light of recent well-known emergencies nationally, including ones in our region, building managers feel a new sense of vulnerability and heightened obligation regarding risk management.
Regional collaboration increases emergency management capabilities by establishing partnerships and improving communication across jurisdictional boundaries, enabling interconnectivity of all emergency functions. This means thinking both creatively and collaboratively about opportunities for shared resources, joint training, and information sharing with a common vision of proactively improving the ability to see the “big picture” for recurring threats throughout the region.
To register, please use the "Registration options" button at the top right of this page. The cost for the event is $35 for AOBA members and $70 for non-members. Registration and coffee from 10:00 to 10:30; program will run from 10:30 to 12:00. Location is the CoStar Building Auditorium, 1331 L Street, NW, Washington, DC.
