Montgomery County:  Several AOBA MD State PAC Endorsed Candidates are Victorious

In the At Large race, AOBA MD State PAC-endorsed candidates, incumbent Hans Riemer  and newcomer Gabe Albornoz, easily won on June 26. They will be joined on the Council by Will Jawando and Evan Glass. The PAC also endorsed Councilmembers Craig Rice (District 2) and Sidney Katz (District 3) both of whom also prevailed in their respective primary races.  Over in Districts 4 and 5, Councilmembers Tom Hucker and Nancy Navarro both secured another term.

While the 2019 Council composition is essentially set, we will have to wait until July 6 for a final decision in the county executive race.  The PAC endorsed David Blair who successfully made it a two-person race with Marc Elrich.  However, with a small number of votes separating the two, the final decision will be determined by a final count of the absentee and provisional ballots, a process which begins on July 28.

Since Montgomery County is a heavily Democratic jurisdiction, the June 26 primary effectively decided the election and the final Democratic nominees are expected to prevail in November.

AOBA looks forward to working with the new county executive and councilmembers.
