As the deadline for reporting your 2017 benchmarking data draws near, DOEE has published an updated list of all buildings covered by the benchmarking law. These buildings are listed by the DC Office of Tax and Revenue as being over 50,000 gross square feet. If you think your building is listed in error or feel your buildings should be exempt from submitting calendar year 2017 benchmarking data, please contact DOEE at info.benchmark@dc.gov.

As you may have heard, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is in the midst of making some updates to the reporting template within Portfolio Manager. As a result, the 2017 District Benchmarking Reporting Template was finalized by DOEE is posted on the DOEE website here.

As a reminder, waste tracking is not required by the District's benchmarking law. For DOEE's reporting purposes, disregard any error messages that pertain to missing waste and material meters.

Lastly, the process for accessing whole building, aggregate natural gas data just got a lot simpler. In November 2017, Washington Gas released Utilli, a new tool which now allows users to receive automatic uploads of natural gas data directly to their Portfolio Manager account (similar to Pepco’s Resource Advisor tool for electricity data).

Utilli offers a one-stop shop where users can make aggregate data requests, add or delete meters to their properties, request any necessary authorizations from tenants, and even make changes to their property use details within Portfolio Manager. As a reminder, the building owner or representative will still be responsible for collecting the meter and/or account numbers for the property and submitting those through the Utilli tool.

There is no fee for the use of Utilli. For anyone that was previously receiving aggregate data from Washington Gas in manual form, you should have received an email from them with instructions on how to set up your Utilli account back in November or December 2017. If this did not occur, please contact Washington Gas at aggregateddata@washgas.com or visit their Energy Benchmarking Website for more information on how to get set up with a Utilli account.
