DC Government Offers Grants for Commercial Waste Compactor

Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD) is administering a new grant to help DC businesses:
- reduce sanitation issues (loose trash, spills and rodent activity)
- lower greenhouse gas emissions from fewer hauling trips
- lower costs for hauling waste (varies by business’ service provider)
Commercial Waste Compactor grant - https://dslbd.dc.gov/compactor
- Provides to $13,500 to help DC businesses purchase or lease a commercial waste compactor (for trash, recyclables and/or compost)
- Open to DC businesses (incorporated as for-profit with business license)
- Part of the Commercial Waste Compactor Pilot Program, which includes education and guidance for business owners provided by Dept. of Health (DOH).
- Application opens June 30 and closes Sept. 8, 2017 at 2pm
