DC Government Offers Grants for Commercial Waste Compactor

Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD) is administering a new grant to help DC businesses:

• reduce sanitation issues (loose trash, spills and rodent activity)
• lower greenhouse gas emissions from fewer hauling trips
• lower costs for hauling waste (varies by business’ service provider)

Commercial Waste Compactor grant - https://dslbd.dc.gov/compactor

• Provides to $13,500 to help DC businesses purchase or lease a commercial waste compactor (for trash, recyclables and/or compost)
• Open to DC businesses (incorporated as for-profit with business license)
• Part of the Commercial Waste Compactor Pilot Program, which includes education and guidance for business owners provided by Dept. of Health (DOH). 
• Application opens June 30 and closes Sept. 8, 2017 at 2pm

As a DC business association, DSLBD and our grant manager, CNHED, would like to work with your organization to:

• Promote the grant opportunity via social media, flyers, group information session and individual business visits
• Connect business seeking guidance about sanitation and rodent control with DOH’s Rat Riddance Initiative
