Join our Utilities Team on December 8 to discuss the Building Energy Performance Standards (BEPS) final regulations.  Representatives from DOEE, the District of Columbia Sustainable Energy Utility, and Constellation will answer member questions on implementation and enforcement.

Background

By Notice of Final Rulemaking, issued Friday, November 5, 2021, the District of Columbia Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE) adopted final regulations governing the implementation and enforcement of the “Building Energy Performance Standards” or “BEPS.” As adopted, BEPS requires buildings located in the District of Columbia to meet specific energy savings and building efficiency standards or targets at predetermined intervals. Failure to comply with the applicable standard or target could subject you or your company to significant fines and penalties. By separate “Notice,” issued October 22, 2021, DOEE also issued final regulations governing the “benchmarking” or building performance data for buildings located in the District of Columbia.

You can download the final regulations here.  Our staff continues to review the regulations to assess the impact of and the cost of compliance with the regulations on AOBA Members.
