WSSC Rate and Fee Increases Pending
The Transportation, Housing and Environment Committee of the Prince George’s County Council has unanimously approved usage rate and fee increases for WSSC, effective for July 1, 2016.
The budget plan would increase combined water and sewer usage rates by three percent. Additionally, the proposal would double the Infrastructure Investment Fee that was first introduced in July 2015. The Infrastructure Investment Fee varies in price based on the size of a water meter and is added to the usage charge for water and sewer on each bill. The fee is a funding source for WSSC’s water and sewer pipe reconstruction program, and was scheduled to be phased-in over the current and next year’s budgets.
Final approval for the utility’s fiscal year 2017 budget is expected later this month by the full Montgomery and Prince George’s County Councils
