MD Dept of the Environment: Focus on Lead Paint Inspectors
The Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) is focusing current enforcement efforts on the work of lead paint abatement and inspection contractors certified by the Department. MDE has received complaints that some certificates have been issued without adequate property inspections. An examination of one contractor led to the invalidation of over 30 certificates out of 384 reviewed. Individuals performing such inspections can anticipate additional oversight this year from the Department.
