Local Nonprofit is Seeking Apartment Building Hosts to Serve Free Meals to Kids this Summer
When school is out, many kids who rely on school for their meals need a place to eat. Share our Strength, a non-profit organization dedicated to ending child hunger, is seeking hosts for sites to serve free meals to school age children this summer. Apartment complexes are among the types of facilities that can volunteer for this program.
The summer meals program is a federal child nutrition program funded by the USDA. Free meals may be served in the attendance area of a school that has 50% or more students eligible for free or reduced price meals. For further information, and to offer your facility for this critical service, please contact Kwane Drabo, Outreach Coordinator, at (202) 557-6462.
