Input Requested on Removing Regulatory Barriers to Business Operations in Montgomery County

Per his FY 2017 budget recommendation, Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett has asked his Economic Advisory Group to lead a “Regulatory Reform” effort in the County. As part of this process, the Advisory Group is soliciting comments from and meeting with both private and public sector stakeholders (including, for example, the directors of the Departments of Housing and Community Affairs, Environmental Protection and Permitting Services).

Members are encouraged to identify specific policy or regulatory changes (local and state) that can make it easier to operate a business in the County.  Consider the following, for example: Are there specific local and/or state regulations and laws which serve as a barrier to or inhibit business operations? Are there regulatory processes that can be streamlined or changed? Please forward recommendations to Nicola Whiteman via email at
