To help raise awareness of building safety, the DC Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA) proudly celebrates Building Safety Month during May. Building Safety Month is a public safety awareness campaign to help individuals, families and businesses understand what it takes to create safe, resilient, affordable and energy-efficient homes and buildings.

On May 1, AOBA staff joined DCRA and other stakeholders for the official launch of Building Safety Month at DCRA’s office.

Visit DCRA’s website www.dcra.dc.gov/buildingsafetymonth for a full list of events that will assist communities in understanding what it takes to create safe and sustainable structures and emphasize the importance of implementing modern model building codes, a strong and efficient system of code enforcement and a well-trained, professional workforce to maintain the system.
