Virginia General Assembly Lobbyist Experience

Join us to make a difference at the 2027 Virginia General Assembly in three easy steps:

1. Select the day(s) you are AVAILABLE to travel to Richmond
   • Mondays - Thursdays, January 18 through February 18, 2027 (except Feb 8-9)
   • Once you register for the days you are available, we will follow up with you to confirm ONE of those days for you to come.
   • We appreciate your providing multiple options to help with scheduling.
   • If, for some reason, the only day(s) you can attend are not available, please reach out to us and we will do our best to accommodate your schedule.
2. Make your plan for coming to meet policymakers
   • Every day is different at the General Assembly. Typically, the mornings consist of private meetings, and the afternoons consist of testimony and committee hearings. Your presence is valuable throughout the day, however it goes.
   • If you can come for the whole day, you'll experience it all! But, we also appreciate if you can only join us for part of the day -- we know you're busy, too!
   • Richmond is day-trippable from the DC Metro area. Some members choose the come the night before, but you can get full value leaving in the morning.
3. Meet legislators and share your expertise with them!
   • We will share legislative materials - bills, talking points, background - with you before you come.
   • Legislators will be excited to talk with you. They value your direct expertise and experience from your work for the residents and workers in our apartments and office buildings.
   • You will never be alone! A member of the AOBA Government Affairs team will be with you throughout the day to help you navigate your experience.

Life is busy, and so is the Virginia General Assembly. So, instead of trying to bring all of AOBA to Richmond on a single day, we created The General Assembly Lobbyist Experience -- the most flexible and convenient lobby day experience for you. By participating in our Lobbyist Experience, you get to share your perspective so our legislators can create policies that make our communities better.

You don't need to worry about a thing, except wearing comfortable shoes. We will be with you every step of the way as we navigate the halls of the General Assembly Building and during the meetings. We'll do our best to customize your itinerary so you can meet with the legislators who impact your business. Register for the day(s) and time(s) that work best for you, scan the materials, and share your experience.

Thank you for taking a day to join us in Richmond and we look forward to meeting you in the lobby of the General Assembly soon!
