NAA Maintenance Mania 2016
What is Maintenance Mania?
A fun sports event developed by the National Apartment Association (NAA) to recognize and celebrate hard-working apartment maintenance professionals. This program allows maintenance staff to show off their expert skills and knowledge, and meet their peers from around the DC region. In this competition, there are CASH and DOOR PRIZES and the chance to win an all-expense-paid trip to the Maintenance Mania National Championships at NAA's Convention.
A Look Back at the 2016 Event: Five Years Strong!
A terrific turn-out, amazing energy and LOTS of fun. That’s how participants described AOBA’s 5th Annual NAA Maintenance Mania competition, held April 14.
Since AOBA began hosting this event, it has grown by 75%! Established by NAA to honor maintenance professionals at apartment building communities in the region, this year’s competition drew more than 160maintenance staff from 13 member firms. In addition to this record-breaking number, more “Spectators” than ever provided enthusiastic support for their company teams.
An annual event highlight is a race car competition, in which competitors build a model car - using at least one maintenance product or part and race it down a derby-style track. This year, kudos go to Lina Marquez, Southern Management Corporation for designing the “best looking” car and to Jerry Longest, Gates Hudson & Associates, for building the fastest car.
Once again this year, Kettler Management’s intrepid Jorge Blanco won the top prize at the competition. Other winners included Rachid Chabraoui and Pedro Martinez Arevalo, also with Kettler. In addition, staff fromSouthern Management Corp., Gates Hudson & Associates and Post Properties scored highly in key games. For the first time, the annual “Spirit Award was presented to Gates Hudson.
The competition, offered by NAA and presenting sponsor HD Supply Facilities Maintenance, was held at Martins Crosswinds in Greenbelt, MD. The area’s multifamily maintenance professionals competed against each other to see who was the fastest at key maintenance tasks.
