DC Benchmarking Trends Part II: Meeting BEPS Thresholds Year-Over-Year

Where buildings stand with respect to the DC Building Energy Performance Standards (BEPS) is based on the energy data that buildings benchmark annually and report to the District Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE). With the start of the BEPS evaluation year approaching on January 1, 2026, AOBA and the Building Innovation Hub (Hub) decided to review the last five years of benchmarking data from 2019 to 2023 to identify trends for office and multifamily buildings in BEPS Compliance Cycle 1. The annual benchmarking data for 2023 was third-party verified, improving the accuracy of the data.
